An estimated audience of over 100 pro-family leaders gathered in Arlington Heights on Saturday night, October 24th, in support of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) www.aftah.org. The evening featured a speech by Peter LaBarbera, Founder and President of AFTAH, and a nationally recognized activist who has toiled on behalf of pro-family issues for more than two decades.
The keynote speaker was J. Matt Barber, AFTAH Board Member: Director of Cultural Affairs, Liberty Counsel; Associate Dean, Liberty University School of Law; and author of "The Right Hook: From the Ring to the Culture War."
Paul B. Madore, Founder and Director, Maine Grassroots Coalition; Jim Finnegan, President, Choose Life Illinois; and Pete Lines who overcame the homosexual lifestyle also addressed those gathered at the Christian Liberty Academy.
LaBarbera told RFFM.org the night was a huge success and he expressed his appreciation to those gathered and to Pastor Calvin Lindstrom, Church of Christian Liberty and Christian Liberty Academy who delivered the invocation.
Jack Roeser, a well-known pro-family philanthropist who attended the banquet, wowed those in attendance when he offered a $10,000 matching grant for AFTAH.
An expected protest by radical homosexual activists took place outside Christian Liberty Academy which included approximately fifteen demonstrators. The protest was in response to a national call to action from homosexual leaders.
"I expected to be meet by a huge phalanx of pro-homosexual demonstrators," said Dan Zanoza, RFFM.org's Executive Director and an attendee of the AFTAH fundraiser. "The pro-homosexual group blocked our access to the crosswalk leading to the banquet hall. As a blind individual, I was struck by the insensitivity of a group which calls for tolerance and recognition of what they claim are special rights homosexuals should receive under the U.S. Constitution."
"Thankfully, two members of the Arlington Heights Police Department cleared a path for me and those I came with and that was deeply appreciated on my part," continued Zanoza. "As I attempted to enter the crosswalk leading to the Academy itself, the pro-homosexual group proceeded to loudly chant their message which greatly increased the danger for myself and others, including the elderly, who depend not only on sight and sound to cross a street. The insensitivity demonstrated by the group was ironic."
David Smith, Executive Director of the Illinois Family Institute accepted an award on behalf of Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman of the American Family Association (AFA).
Though the AFTAH banquet was not a political event, two candidates seeking statewide office were present. Dan Proft, who is running for Governor in the GOP primary and Andy Martin, who is seeking the Republican Party nomination in the U.S. Senate race, joined pro-family supporters at the AFTAH fundraiser.
"I was very impressed with the gathering of people who are concerned about this issue, especially with the words of Mr. Lines, an individual who found his way out of the homosexual lifestyle with God's help," said Arlene Sawicki of South Barrington, a longtime pro-life/pro-family activist. "Contrary to the sentiments of radical homosexual activists, the entire evening approached the issue of homosexuality and its impact on our culture in a loving, Christlike manner."
A Question and Answer session with Matt Barber and Pete Lines topped off the proceedings.
"I learned a great deal about the negative impact the homosexual lifestyle has upon our culture and individuals who find themselves trapped in this lifestyle," said one of those gathered. "It is a sad story, but Mr. Lines is proof that there is hope for all who are living their lives contrary to Biblical teachings. However, it is also a message of hope for those with other addictions because I believe, as one of the speakers noted tonight, homosexuality is a form of sexual addiction that one can overcome."

Commentary by Daniel T. Zanoza *
Well, they wanted it all and they got it all. Since the 1960's, radical feminists have been telling American women they needed to be more like men. Women were told they needed to be sexually liberated, like men. Women were told they could raise a family on their own, have a career and, basically, have it all, like men.
The sad result of this mantra has led to some societal ills that will probably never be reversed. "No fault divorce" has vastly increased the number of single-parent households which has led to a multitude of children who, essentially, raise themselves.
At the same time, sexual promiscuity and violent crime has gone up exponentially among women.
But perhaps the most telling result of the feminist plan to re-engineer American society can be found in statistics which reveal many more women are now addicted to pornography than in years past. Also, the recent rash of female school teachers having sexual relationships with school children has reached epidemic proportions. Stories of educators having inappropriate sexual contact with children as young as 11 years old now fill the news. It is a sad sign of the times which illustrates a culture without boundaries.
In the past, there were male teachers who had sex with under-aged female students. America looked upon these individuals with disgust and shame--and well they should. These teachers violated their holy trust with their students and society. However, the heavy coverage of Mary Kay Letourneau's illicit affair with an under-aged boy, plus her subsequent prosecution and jailing, gave credence to the fact some women were having problems controlling their sexual appetites. Such stories, unfortunately, have now become commonplace.
Pamela Smart, another so-called educator, went even further to fulfill her lustful urges and greed. Mrs. Smart seduced and employed three of her students with the ultimate result ending in the brutal death of her husband at the hands of her teen-aged lover and friends. America was shocked. It seemed there was a plague infecting those who are trusted with the country's most precious commodity, its children.
More recently, a case in Texas has a former beauty queen turned teacher having an affair with an 18 year old high school student. Shockingly, there are those in the media and elsewhere who claim the relationship was legitimate because an 18 year old is considered an adult. This flies in the face of common sense which says a teacher of any sex should not take advantage of the teacher/student relationship to satisfy sexual desires. There are a myriad of reasons such behavior should be taboo. For example, can a teacher of any sex intimidate one of their charges into having intercourse, in order to get a better grade? To say such unions are between consenting adults is ridiculous.
Fortunately, Texas applies a common sense attitude in state law and defines such violations as criminal, second-class felonies punishable by up to twenty years of imprisonment. Making the situation worse, in many cases, is the double-standard being applied to women who molest their students. If it were men having sex with 12 year old girls, there would be no question over the course of action needed to be taken by the criminal justice system. Yet, somehow, women, in too many cases, have been given a pass regarding such abhorrent behavior.
The question is: Are radical feminists, like Gloria Steinem, proud of this new paradigm? Women are now more violent, participating in crimes only rarely seen as little as 30 years ago. Women now purchase and enjoy pornography in staggering numbers. However, with this new sexual freedom comes the societal ills such moral decay generates.
Beginning in the 60's, groups like the National Organization for Women (NOW) criticized American society for objectifying women. However, from fashion to movies, women are portrayed as sexual objects like never before. Some plastic surgeons make their entire careers solely by performing breast implant surgery. The entertainment industry earns billions of dollars related to pornography from sales over the Internet and DVD's. Smut movies are now mainstream. In the past, X-rated shops on darkened streets sold such material to those who purchased the material, sometimes in disguise. Today, pornography streams into some of the most reputable 5 star hotels. It also can be seen in the privacy of one's own home by simply subscribing to certain cable channels.
Yes, women have become sexual objects like never before. Yet where is the outcry from radical feminists?
The outcry is not there because if feminists attacked pornography and its impact on American culture, these feminists would have to admit they had it wrong in the first place. Their assault on the country's sexual mores of yesteryear has resulted in the total devaluation and objectification of women in today's culture. "Girls Gone Wild" video sales have made pornographers wealthy and individuals like Larry Flynt of Hustler magazine fame are now considered heroes in the defense of free speech and First Amendment rights.
Yes, radical feminists have accomplished a great deal in less than 50 years. Women now become strippers to, supposedly, work their way through college. Some little girls say they want to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and Brittany Spears. To all those feminists who believed the Judeo-Christian morality of years past was repressive, America salutes you. So stand up and take the credit--or blame--for where your work has led many women.

Robert Himmelblau, the Deputy District Attorney from San Joaquin County, stated a homicide charge against Huckaby could also include the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and murder in the course of a kidnapping.

My wife was getting her hair cut just weeks before the presidential election. The stylist--who suddenly was an expert on Barack Obama and John McCain--was providing a lecture on the abortion policy of the two men.
"John McCain used to be pro-abortion," said the hair-stylist-turned-political-gadfly. "That's a fact. McCain has flip-flopped on the position of abortion. Once he was for it, now he's not."
My wife spent most of her time listening because she knew it was no use arguing with the woman. I might have done the same if someone was holding a sharp pair of scissors close to my neck, too.
Obviously, the woman had made up her mind. She was going to vote for then-Senator Barack Obama, but she had to come up with reasons why--especially in a small town in central Illinois where it's not unusual to see Republicans run unopposed for elected office. I guess it was right about then that I realized John McCain was in trouble. The Arizona Senator had taken the pro-family, pro-life vote for granted and the Obama campaign filled the void very well thank you. McCain only mentioned the abortion issue once in three political debates with the junior senator from Illinois. So people like the hair stylist filled in the blanks any way they wanted to regarding the issue of abortion.
Americans have a way of trying to make themselves feel better about the choices they make. In the past, the saying was "I don't want to get involved." Today the opposite is true. Everyone wants to get involved, even if they don't understand the consequence of their action.
"Barack Obama's election will be historic," said school teachers, liberal columnists and African-American leaders--including the clergy. However, few seemed to know (or care) what Obama believed in. Well, those people are starting to learn and there are consequences for their ignorance.
On Friday, Obama signed an executive order ending the ban on federal funding for international groups that promote or perform abortions.
Known as the Mexico City Policy, established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, the executive order was rescinded by President Bill Clinton and then reinstated by George W. Bush and once more rescinded by Barack Obama. The bottom line is American tax dollars will once more help kill unborn babies worldwide.
Now if you voted for Barack Obama and this makes you uncomfortable, perhaps you shouldn't read on. The truth is one of Obama's campaign pledges included a promise to sign a bill called the Freedom Of Choice Act (FOCA). FOCA would turn the United States into a virtual "free fire zone" on unborn children and those who protect them. Legislation, including parental notification, the ban on partial-birth abortion and the ban on live-birth abortion would be things of the past. Doctors and hospitals which refused to take the life of innocent unborn children would no longer be entitled to federal money. Pharmacies and pharmacists would be forced to dispense controversial abortifacients without recourse. The list goes on and on.
Yes, FOCA would be an abortionist's dream. It would be akin to when Adolf Hitler legalized the murder of Jews. FOCA, like the Holocaust, will become government-sanctioned policy, if Obama has his way. And those who voted for him can take credit or blame for a bill that will lead to the deaths of millions if enacted.
I suppose, like in Nazi Germany, there will be those who will claim they didn't understand Obama's stand on abortion. Or they might try to find sanctuary in the fact this is only one bill the President will sign--among thousands--in the next four years. However, none of these excuses hold water. If you didn't know where the man stood on the issue, it wasn't hard to find out. Clearly, I am quite comfortable in saying the blood of the unborn will stain the hands of those who voted for this man. And, no matter how hard they try to wash it off, it will remain.
Of course, there are higher powers that can offer forgiveness. But collectively, as a culture, such ignorance is unforgivable. Subsequently, I hope that nice warm glow some of you felt when Obama was being sworn in will cover the shame we should all feel for electing such a man to the American presidency, a man who should understand what it is when an entire group is stripped of its humanity.
There have been an estimated 50 million abortions committed in the United States since the landmark Supreme Court decision titled Roe v. Wade went into effect in 1973. Those numbers will increase dramatically under the Obama presidency. And let's make sure responsibility lies where it is due.

For the first time in my adult memory, I did not watch the inauguration of a new president. I'm sorry, but I find no reason to celebrate what may be the end of America as we know it.
At noon Eastern time, Barack Obama was sworn into office. Some claim it was an historic moment. I refuse to acknowledge the fact Obama's skin color should play a major role in our celebration. Race is openly being used to bolster the worth of a man which is something we have been taught to reject during the last 40 years, haven't we?
The truth of the matter is Barack Obama is not the first African-American president. He is the first President of mixed race. But when studied closely, the labeling of Obama as a black man apparently will fit in well with his agenda for our nation.
During the Clinton administration, welfare reform was enacted to the anguish of many African-American leaders. Mr. Clinton, who, too was called America's "first black president" was criticized from pillar to post for signing the welfare reform bill. Individuals like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton derive power from those who are dependent on government and this new legislation promised to reduce their influence on a substantial segment of American society.
The truth of the matter is welfare reform has been a staggering success. I recently spoke with a member of middle management with the Illinois Dept. of Human Services. He told me welfare reform had literally freed up millions of those who were formerly dependent on a welfare check to now truly be able to seek their human potential. This was not a political pitch I was hearing because this DHS official would benefit from more Illinois residents being on the welfare rolls. You see, the more people dependent on his office, the more power he has. It's a simple equation that many have manipulated for their own benefit over the past 80 years. Beginning with Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal and ending with the disastrous legacy of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society, an entire people had been relegated to a legalized form of slavery which was hidden under the guise of welfare.
Black men were told to stay away from their families or their children would suffer the loss of benefits. Poor white and African-American women were encouraged to have as many children as possible out of wedlock. The more children, the more money a family received. It was a vicious circle of poverty and dependence.
Barack Obama is about to revisit this plague upon our nation. Under what he calls a stimulus package, Americans who do not work will be given tax refunds. We are about to see an entire generation rekindle its dependence upon government as the answer to its problems. Obama has the audacity to admit this is his strategy. In a speech just days before his inauguration, the 44th President of the United States said government is the only thing that will save America.
Sadly, some Republicans have bought into this lie. With amazement, I watched George Bush virtually nationalize the United States banking system. This was a path the Democratic Party was more than willing to follow.
Against the will of the American people, hundreds of billions of dollars were spent--and will be spent--on the socialization of our country's free market system. Therefore, I was not happy to see a man sworn in who seems hell bent on making the United States a second rate world power. I wonder. Will America survive the Obama presidency? Or will Obama's idolization of European socialism become the rule of the land for us all?
Obama truly is a man for his times. He is light without mass. He receives accolades without accomplishments. Perhaps in four years this will fit the description of a once powerful and vibrant nation under Obama's leadership.
Contrary to the thoughts of Obama, I believe our country needs prayer, instead of more government.

On March 18th, 2006, one day after the fourth of what would be five operations on the only eye which gave me partial sight, a doctor removed the final bandage and I was totally blind. I could not see shadows. I could not see the doctor's head lamp. I was totally blind. In medical terms, I am considered functionally blind and the one certainty I was later to learn was that I would never see my wife's face again.
In the years prior to the complete loss of my sight, I imagined what it would be like to be completely left without sight. I think most human beings think about this happening to them some time in their life. Some say they couldn't live without eyesight and, frankly, some can't. Many people who lose their eyesight after the age of 50 commit suicide.
Thankfully, it was as though I was preparing myself for this day all of my life. I might say I prepared myself as much as I could because no one could truly anticipate and plan for such a traumatic experience. In my case, my faith played a major role in dealing with my medical condition. I also have a loving wife who I knew would be there to stand by me for the rest of our lives together. Some people are not blessed with such luxuries. I truly believe my blindness is part of God's plan and it is my duty to use my condition to better myself as a human being and to add something to the world that surrounds me, which I cannot see.
One of the hardest things about any tragedy is how such events impact those who love you. I can truly say it has been harder for my wife, family and friends to deal with my blindness than it has been for me. But this is a natural process. It is part of life and I am truly fortunate that there are those who care so much. Some times it might be easier if you knew a loved one wasn't going through pain. However, that is what unconditional love is all about.
I never planned to write a column about this subject. Those who are physically challenged do not seek sympathy. In fact, the opposite is true. I was legally blind for 52 years of my life and even in adulthood one of my major goals was to keep my handicap a secret. However, I have recently learned an alleged conservative is spreading rumors that I am not completely blind and that I am intentionally trying to deceive my readers by playing on their sympathies. Imagine that. This individual is telling people I am only legally blind, as though that condition alone is nothing worth mentioning. But why would someone spread a lie of this sort? I believe people who spread malicious gossip are driven by evil, nothing more and nothing less. I would not be responding to these slanders, if not for the fact I have written a number of columns where I mentioned my blindness--many times in a joking manner.
The truly sad thing about this situation is that someone feels there is a necessity to build themselves up by trying to attack me. This is a sad statement about the human condition. But I have prayed for this individual and so has my wife.
Many believe politics is a dirty game and stories like the one I have told here truly keep the best in our society from seeking elected office. The lies told about me didn't come from a Democrat, they came from an alleged conservative. I use the words alleged conservative because most people who consider themselves social conservatives abide by a moral code; not a code set up by man or government, but a code given to us by our Creator. Individuals who break such standards of decency are not conservatives, they are guns for hire who swim the waters of the political world like sharks in a reef.
If anyone has any questions about the status of my eyesight, they are welcome to come to my home to review my medical records. Of course, this would be an invasion of my privacy, but sometimes transparency is more important than our personal comfort. I will keep this individual, who feels it's necessary to lie about me, in my prayers. I hope one day the Lord will enter their heart.
I will not reveal the person's name for one reason and one reason only. This person is working on some projects with people of impeccable character and I wouldn't want collateral damage to impact them.
In the meantime, I will count on those who know me personally and those who know me through my writings to believe I would never bear false witness or lie about my eyesight or any other issue on this web site. I am not perfect and I have many faults. In fact, too many to write about here, but two of the greatest compliments my wife and I ever received was when someone said "The Zanoza's must be Christians because of the way they act," and "If the Zanoza's wrote it, it must to be true." Perhaps those are the greatest compliments anyone can receive.

Henry Kissinger was reported to have said, “Control the food and you control the people.” Controlling people is as simple as controlling food, water and energy through a variety of controls.
“No Farmers No Food,” the bumper sticker distributed by The Adopt a Farm Family ministry, is a message of warning. The Adopt ministry was started by Mary Myers, wife of Peter Myers, former Deputy Secretary of Agriculture who served in the Reagan Administration. She confided to me that God had instructed her to “watch over the food.” At that time there appeared to be no reason for concern. Now we see a new pattern unfolding. Could we be watching the beginning of Revelations 6:6?
"Green is the new red, white and blue,” was a recent quote made by a university environmental group. The extreme environmental movement has been compared to a watermelon.” Green on the outside but red on the inside.” Daily we are facing energy and possibly a food crisis because of the extreme environmental control that has swept our nation.
The goal of farmers in the U.S. is to provide the safest, cheapest food in the world…but that privilege is being taken from them one step at a time. We see our rural areas coming under many regulations. Farming acres are turned into open space, heritage areas, wetlands and programs that take crop land out of production.
F. William Engdahl’s latest book, Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation, “focuses on how a small American elite group seeks to establish control over the very basis of human survival: our daily bread.” Farmers are not geneticists. They plant the seeds they purchase in good faith, but they do not know the full genetic make-up of the seeds they plant.
Not only do grain farmers face problems, but livestock producers are facing a livestock tracking system that would reflect total control of our meat supply. If we permit the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) to be implemented, small producers will be eliminated. It will be virtually impossible for them to meet the requirements.
The official USDA documents can be found on www.farmandranchalliance.org
“In a three year period the total NAIS computer movement numbers in the USA will more than eclipse the number of all people living on the entire planet earth,” according to a report by Darol Dickenson, The enforcement for not reporting within a 24 hour period could be a financial disaster to livestock owners.
The system is promoted by commercial interests such as the Digital Angel/Veri-chip corporation who have a patented implantable microchip for tracking RFID tags and GPS identification. They are already using chips in some hospitals and plans are underway by these same companies to chip the public at large. Could this be so people can “buy and sell” as stated in Revelations 13:16?
While USDA says this is a “voluntary” program, 4-H and FFA members in Colorado are forced to have a Premise Identification in order to enter their projects at the fairs. Illinois had mandated this same regulation but due to an outcry of the people, they lifted their mandate for 2008.
Merck/Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals, maker of VYTORIN (which is now under scrutiny) is listed as a member of the National Institute of Animal Agriculture (NIAA), the driving force behind NAIS. Control and greed appear to be the purpose of this program – not food safety. The CEO of Digital Angel, said, "We continue to support the livestock industry groups and USDA as they implement NAIS for livestock producers on a voluntary basis.”
WATER:
The Clean Water Restoration Act (HR2421) is very frightening legislation on the federal level. This bill removes the word “navigable” from the Clean Water Act and places every ditch, pond or wet spot – virtually your back yard - under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Corps of Engineers. You will not be permitted to make any changes on your property without approval.
Germany, France and other countries own municipal water works in many locations in the United States. What would happen if one day could our “water was shut off?” Water needed for irrigation was deprived to farmers in the Klamath Basin in Oregon a few years ago causing devastation.
Farmers continue to stand for the belief to provide cheap, safe food for people around the world. They need the consumer’s help to take action when they see unwarranted changes in our food, water and land regulations. The rising cost of food is not because of subsidized farmers. At the current grain prices, farmers do not receive subsidies. In the past, there was speculation of a price control on grains with the purpose of the subsidy being for the benefit of the consumer.
We are definitely living in troubling times as we see our economy being disrupted with foreclosures on homes, soaring energy and food prices and unrest in the Mid-East. There are solutions to our problems such as drilling in ANWR, permitting new refineries and power plants to be built. There are many things we could do to eliminate our dilemma, but the environmentalists appear to be holding our legislators by the pocket.
The truth will never be found at happy hour discussing what was in the newspaper or on CNN. Until the people at large become informed with the truth - and take action, we will find our food, water and energy being used to control the masses.
