From Randy Stufflebeam, President, Constitution Party of Illinois
The Executive Committee of the Constitution Party of Illinois has decided to hold a Special State Convention on January 17, 2009 at the Peoria Public Library from 9am until 4:45pm.
Keynote Speaker
Illinois State Senator, Chris Lauzen, of the 25th District has accepted an invitation to be the keynote speaker for this event. Senator Lauzen comes to us as a fellow champion of life, liberty, and the family. He has stood for these principles in the state legislature; many times alone. Since meeting him in 2006, he is a man that I have come to admire and respect. As I told the Senator during our phone conversation, "If all Republican Politicians had as much honor, courage and integrity, I'd still be a Republican."
Other guest speakers:
Elder Johnny Tyler: Elder Tyler is the President of the African American Family Association (AAFA) and worked with Chad Koppie during his 2008 Senatorial campaign.
Christina Tobin: Christina is the Founder of FREE (Free and Equal Election). Christina was also responsible for the 2008 Presidential and Vice Presidential debates where both Chuck Baldwin and Darrell Castel were participants.
Purpose
The purpose of this special state convention is for organization. Since the November 4th, elections, I have received an unprecedented number of phone calls and emails from people asking what they can do to participate in building the Constitution Party here in Illinois.
Name Change - There will be a proposed bylaw change to change the name of the Constitution Party of Illinois. After having seen our party on the ballot, it has come to our attention that "Constitution Party of Illinois" seems too long. To simplify this, it will be proposed that we drop the "of Illinois ", so that all we will see on the ballot will be "Constitution Party."
County Organization By the time the convention convenes, I am expecting that we will have 4-5 newly organized counties. I can tell you how exciting this is: Committees - Next we have several standing committees that we are looking to staff: · Bylaws · Election · Platform · Membership · Public Relations (PR) · Training · Events · Political Action Committee (PAC) · Finance/Fund Raising Candidates - Obviously, the bottom line is that we are a political party and we are looking for candidates. Our mission is to get Constitutional men and women elected that will be committed to restoring our state and this nation back to their constitutional roots. Please, Come Join Us!! You won't want to miss this exciting time of coming together to lay the ground work for taking back our government and putting it back into the hands of "We, the People!" Please let me know if you will be attending (RSVP) as I want to make sure that we have an adequate venue for everyone who would like to be there. You can either send an email to [email protected] or call 618-355-0737 and leave a message. More details about this event will be posted on the website as they become available.
